Some Of My Favorite Links
Louis Prima’s legendary saxophonist Sam Butera (1927-2009 ) passed away at about 6am on June 3rd, 2009 at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, where he had been since early January 2009 suffering from the effects of Alzheimer's Disease.
Besides having been my personal friend, my mentor and one of my all-time idols, Louis Prima's legendary sideman was renowned as one of the most impeccable players of the Tenor Sax of this or any other musical era. With his distinctive sax playing and his powerful vocals, he'd thrilled millions via performances from Las Vegas’ major showrooms, to the Copacabana in New York City. One of the biggest highlights of my career was to sit-in with him and The Wildest many times at the legendary Sands Casino Show Lounge in Las Vegas, as well as at many venues around Nevada and at Resorts International in Atlantic City, where I first met him in 1982!
Here’s a link for one of the true musical geniuses of the 20th century!

I recorded a CD ("Rock & Roll Dance Party") with these guys in the 90s (before Chico passed).
I also had the pleasure of playing Sax with them many times.
They're still rockin'.....check it out!
Mick Martin and the Blues Rockers
This is one of my favorite groups to record & perform with...I’m on a bunch of their CD’s! The lead singer/harp player (Mick Martin) performed at Carnegie Hall with (B3 organ legend) Jimmy Smith, who he introduced me to and who I got to play with many times. He's also a mainstay on Sacramento radio!
